Laser Hair Removal
Industry guidelines recommended an average of 6-8 treatments per area for best results. Although this is a reliable average for most of our clients, individual results will vary according to hormones, hair cycle, medical conditions, medications and dietary supplements.
Some of our clients fall asleep during treatments, while others experience minor discomfort. If you’re sensitive to pain, a mild pain reliever taken about an hour prior to your appointment may help with heat sensitivity. It also may be helpful to avoid scheduling during your menstrual cycle.
Absolutely not! You can purchase a package or simply pay as you go – it’s up to you! However, we do recommend scheduling all of your treatments at once – or as far in advance as possible – to ensure that you stay on track with your sessions – and, more importantly, your hair growth cycle. Also be sure to ask us about our specials, which we announce each month on our Instagram page @IvyLaserSalon.
Shaving is permitted, although you might not even have to! As for waxing, please don’t. Chances are, if your hair even grows long enough to wax, it will be around the time for you to come in for your next treatment, anyway. So shave it off or wait it out for the best long-term results.
Yes! Our Candela laser system is the most advanced machine on the market and is safe to use on ALL SKIN TYPES. It utilizes two different types of lasers: the Alexandrite laser, for light skin tones, and the Yag laser, for dark skin tones. However, just because it’s safe to use on dark skin tones does NOT mean it’s safe to use on skin that’s been exposed to natural sun or sunless tanning – PLEASE DO NOT TAN AT LEAST FOUR WEEKS PRIOR TO TREATMENT. If we see tan lines, we will have to postpone your session.
If you complete the suggested amount of treatments within the timeframe recommended, then the odds are in your favor. However, while we hope for the best, there are some circumstances in which new hair growth may occur and, thus, interfere with laser hair removal results. Examples include supplements with biotin (hair and nail strength/growth vitamins), thyroid abnormalities, and hormonal imbalances (birth control medication, pregnancy and menopause are common).
Laser Skin Tightening
Not long! A full face session only takes about 5-7 minutes.
There may be some discomfort, primarily due to heat sensitivity, so we suggest an over-the-counter pain reliever or a prescription numbing solution prior to treatment.
A little bit. Following your treatment, we recommend you stay indoors and limit physical activity – preferably none at all. Between treatments, load up on the sunscreen.
Laser Sun Spot Removal
This treatment is effective on many kinds of hyperpigmentation, which includes — but is not at all limited to – sun spots. We’re frequently visited by new moms, for example, who experienced significant skin changes from hormonal imbalances during and following pregnancy.
While results may be seen immediately following the treatment, expect some darkening or redness to occur for a few days following the treatment, followed by light peeling (exposing new skin) at the end of the first week. Definitely avoid the sun and any hard cleansers (peels, acids, exfoliants) for the first week, and be sure to apply a moisturizer with or in addition to a gentle sunscreen. After the first week, following your treatment, you may begin to use a gentle exfoliant to reveal full results.
We’ll make a recommendation upon your first treatment; however, we’ll be able to conclude whether or not you need additional treatment, two weeks after your treatment, upon which we’ll request a photo update or a follow up appointment.
Microblading is a form of permanent make-up that uses a manual method of implanting pigment into the epidermis in crips hair-like strokes, resulting in a very natural look. Since a manual blade is being used and the pigment is superficially deposited, microblading is a procedure that typically lasts 1-3 years.
Microblading will gradually fade over time. Color boosts are recommended every 1-1.5 years to keep them looking fresh
Absolutely! Microblading can benefit those who have hair loss from cancer treatments, alopecia, or genetic thinning. You do not need existing hairs to benefit from microblading. Our manual methods can achieve a full brow reconstruction that looks very natural!
There are two parts to the application: the initial session and the enhancing session. The enhancement session occurs 4-12 weeks following the initial session and is included in the service price.
